When should you visit Troms?

Tromsø, Lyngen, Senja and Harstad change character through the year: auroras and skrei in winter, ski touring in the Lyngen Alps in spring, midnight sun and festivals in summer, autumn colours as the aurora returns. Pick your month — and see what awaits.

🥾 High summer by the sea

July

High summer — Senja, mountain hikes and the Bukta festival

🌡️ 9 to 16°C
☀️ 20–24 hours

July is the peak season: the midnight sun lasts until about 22 July, Senja’s outer coast shows off some of Norway’s most dramatic coastal mountains, and the trails around Tromsø and in Lyngen are free of snow. The Bukta festival fills Telegrafbukta in Tromsø with rock under the midnight sun, and sea fishing, kayaking and fjord cruises run daily.
